Rangel and Conyers Calling for DSM Investigation

Rep. Charles Rangle of New York and Rep John Conyers of Michigan are leading the charge demanding a full investigation of the facts brought to light in the various DSM that appear to show a concerted effort of both the British and the American governments to fix evidence about WMD in Iraq to "make the war legal".

"Quite frankly, evidence that appears to be building up points to whether or not the president has deliberately misled Congress to make the most important decision a president has to make, going to war," said Rangel, senior Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Conyers delivered a petition signed by 105 members of congress and over 540,000 American citizens urging Bush to answer questions about the memo.

All of this took place in the context of a bipartisian movement in congress to start the withdrawl of American troops from Iraq by October of next year. This coalition includes both Democrats who have always been against the war (Dennis Kucinich (OH) and Neil Abercrombie (HI)) and Republicans who have been against the war (Ron Paul (TX)) and orginally in favor of the war (Walter Jones (NC)).

Jones was behind the change of Capitol Hill menus changing French Fries to Freedom Fries. Now Jones says this, ""After 1,700 deaths, over 12,000 wounded and $200 billion spent, we believe it is time to have this debate and discussion on this resolution."
